From the Research Lab: After Tomorrow #5 – Sustainably, Design and Globalization in the Day After Covid 19

Landscape architect Martin Rein-Cano of Berlin-based TOPOTEK 1 and architects Yael Gilad and Galit Shiff of Gilad-Shiff Architecture in an online conversation about sustainability, design, and globalization in a post-Corona world. They will discuss sustainability and health issues in public and private spaces, the relevance of design to different uses of urban areas, and the effect of the pandemic on planning in general and international collaborations in particular. As part of our German-Israeli dialogue, we promote mutual learning of ways planners can deal with new challenges posed by Covid-19, questioning future methods.

Martin Rein-Cano is an Argentinian landscape architect who studied in Germany and founded TOPOTEK 1 in 1996. The firm is involved in architecture and landscape planning, integrating urban design and art into a critical statement about contemporary life. Architects Yael Gilad and Galit Shiff are co-founders of Gilad-Shiff Architecture, specializing in planning, design, and architectural research of innovation and sustainable planning. The firm focuses on leveraging design, architecture, and urbanism to deal with climate change and its effect on creating living spaces and urban resilience.
