From the Research Lab: Roofs to the people?
Sharon Golan-Yaron program director of the Liebling Haus invites architect Jakub Szczęsny to join her for a preview of our upcoming exhibition, Welcome to the Re: Public.
Urban public spaces are epitomes of democracy, representing its strengths and weaknesses, and streets and squares have always served as the backdrop for scenes of cultural and ideological frictions and conflicts.
If spaces represent social organizations, what would be the role of spatial typologies like shopping malls or corporate rooftop terraces? Do we need new impulses and vision, or do we need to revitalize and reorganize our rooftops? Can our rooftop terraces replace shared spaces as bars, and squares as the places where the New is born?
