Back to the Future: the Walkman Turns 40 – Recording Workshop With Daniel Slabosky
Musician and sound artist Daniel Slabosky takes you on a field recording tour inspired by the Walkman (literally, the Walking Man). Just as movies or comics move between pictures to tell a story, so can a sound segment create a narrative by connecting sounds. In the workshop, we will learn how to tell a story with sound and create a personal piece. We will trace the distinctive sound of an audio cassette, with its interruptions and noise, and use the materials to compile a unique soundtrack to take home. Please bring a smartphone for the recording.
